We warmed up our brains in our maths lessons by getting the rekenreks out!
We looked at a dice pattern on the board, figured out what number was represented, and then the children had to create this number on their rekenreks. When the number was 18, lots of children counted backwards from the 20 beads on their rekenrek, taking 2 away to easily represent 18. Amazing effort by all the children.
