The Tin Forest - w/c 27th April 2020

Hi all,

This week we have been inspired by a tale of transformation, The Tin Forest by Helen Ward and Wayne Anderson. An old man lives in a grey and forsaken place ‘that looked out on other people’s rubbish and bad weather’. He dreams of a wild and colourful place and uses the resources around him in such a creative way that change comes about and a natural forest becomes entwined with one of metal. You can hear the story being read on the following link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_j_XPFxy5js

A puppet show version here:

and you can read the text on Helen Ward's website:

Our natural world, how we impact it and what we can do to help is a constant source of debate in news and politics. Why not take some time out to learn something new about the rainforest, its habitants and the changes it faces. With human activity at a new low, you may have noticed new wild life in your own garden or on walks – use this time to engage respectfully with wildlife a little closer to home too.

Below are some supporting documents to guide you through your learning this week. Present your findings in the most appropriate, yet creative way possible.

We can’t wait to see what you produce.
