Peer Mediation
On Monday, Year 5/6 spent the morning working on peer mediation. We started by looking at the United Nation Rights of the Child
'It is important for children to feel listened to'
We learnt that mediation can be used to help bring peace, hearing out both sides of the disagreement to try and find a solution.
The children learnt to address conflict with 'I am feeling...' rather than blame. The children then put down their thoughts in a mind map with examples of conflict in school and what causes it.
The children then thought of qualities that make a good mediator: patient, empathetic, respectful, resilient, honest, responsible.
Finally, a little drama scenario was demonstrated by Eden, Florence, Lily-Rose and Dylan.
We are looking forward for the 12 chosen Year 5's to share their mediation skills on the playground.
